Very mean restraunt On 11/11/11 I reserved a reservation to celebrate my 62th birthday with my family. When I came to the restraunt the greeter/server was very polite, they showed me to my seat and I started to order. I ordered Smoked Salmon Crips for $13.99. THE WAIT WAS MORE THAN 1 HOUR. When I got my food the server gave us 2 black smoked salmon charcol crips, I said, "Excuse me sir, what is this crap, and how could you serve such a burned item"? In literally 2 seconds he switches the burned food for the good Salmon Crips... read more
Best French Restaurant in Milwaukee – I was pleasantly surprised the first time that I had the pleasure of dinning at Chez Jacques. The food, wine, live muisic, and service were excellent. It is a warm, romantic setting with wonderful decore, and art. I was especially pleased with the cleanlyness of everything, It was like being in Paris, without the attitude. It gives me great pleasure to recomend it to anyone planning a date, or special ocassion. Yours Truly, Don Elioff
A wonderful place to take the family – I took my family to Chez Jacques for a Christmas Dinner. The food was wonderful. I had the Boeuf Bourguignon, my wife had the Steak Frites and my daughter had a French version of Mac and cheese. The service was precise and polite. The atmosphere is extremely charming and intimate. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone without hesitation.
Awful- Never Again – I have lived in Milwaukee my whole life. We eat out at least 2x per week if not more. I was looking for a new restaurant and stumbled upon reviews of Chez Jacques. We read the good and the bad and decided to take our chances. Huge mistake. We got there and the doors to the place were wide open. Then we ordered appetizers. We tried the escargot which had absolutely no flavor and they had a special on mussels. Again no flavor and very small muscles. Wait staff--no just Jacques and another guy. My daughter ... read more
Very Bad, Never Again – I went on mother's day and to begin we have to wait few minutes for plates after the appetizers arrived. Asked our server to change the dirty glasses with water because it had something floating in it, the rice was cold, the medium well steaks we ordered arrived bleeding twice, because we request to cook more. No crème Brule available >( no manager to say a word about these issues and a huge bill ($190) for a horrible experience? and on to of that I emailed this place two times looking for the manager... read more
My sister was married at Chez Jacques last week (ceremony and reception). It was absolutely beautiful, absolutely perfect. Jacques met with us several times to plan every detail, from ceremony seating to a champagne toast to a wonderful dinner followed by dancing. On "The Big Day," the restaurant was carefully arranged to meet our needs, and the dinner itself was as expertly timed as it was delicious. One guest commented that, "Many wedding receptions sort of blend together over time - impersonal halls with so-so food. The r... read more
Possibly the best food in Milwaukee – Milwaukee to me was a culinary desert until I found this restaurant! Chez Jacques' food has the real European taste (and very tasty freshly baked bread!), and we LOVED it. But besides the food, I also recommend this restaurant for its excellent service. We had a small kid with us, and the people there (even the kitchen staff!) were really sweet to her. In the U.S., many businesses are afraid to do "extra" or give a "kind gesture" because of silly law suites and what not. Their restaurant... read more
Don't waste your time at Jacques...worst restaurant in Milwaukee! Rarely do I complain, and I have never written a negative review of a restaurant, but my experience at Jacques was so sickening that I simply can not overlook it.
I would love to rate the food but after waiting an hour and a half we decided to leave. the people next to us also left after waiting an hour. this was on mothers day but we had reservations so there was no excuse. they have no reason or apologies and brought nothing out for us to eat while we were waiting. one star is to generous!
Chez Jacques has a 4.3 star rating with 141 reviews.
Chez Jacques is closed now. It will open at 10:00 a.m.
