Perfect neighborhood bakery! This little neighborhood bakery is quite deceptively a powerhouse for fantastic pastries. I adore their French sourdough baguettes, their chocolate croissants, and their decadent chocolate cookies. Everything here is made fresh daily, and their effort definitely shows in their product. Get here in the morning before everything disappears. PROS: Perfect pastries, great bread CONS:

Great Bakery – If it wasn?t for the slightly cold service it would be 5 stars. Superb quality bread and really tasty treats try their Madeleine?s or the Baguettes.

Great Baked Goods in the Marina – OK, you pay for it, but Chestnut Bakery sells great baked goods. I was witness to several cakes/pastries from here for a co-worker's party, and was blown away by the prettiness of the cake. I did not think I could find a rival to Tartine in the Mission. The cake/pastries were breath-taking - of the too-pretty-to-eat variety - and just as scrumptious. If your pockets can't take the loss of change, you can always get a mini-cupcake for $1.25. And room to sit and have a coffee, too ...
