I started building a Northeaster Dory in the class 3 weeks ago at CLC and thoroughly enjoyed my time there learning new skills and adapting old ones to boatbuilding. The kit came together beautifully, allowing me to car top the newly-built hull back to NC for completion. The Dory and the other CLC boats are expertly-designed and beautiful, just looking at the array of vessels in their showroom started me thinking about my next project. I built a Mystic River Canoe. It was advertised to weigh 34 lbs. I called and asked if that was correct the person I talked to said it was. Without using anything extra, the canoe weighs 62 pounds. I told Chesapeake that it was false advertising and had I known I would not have built one. One of my considerations on building it was weight. Peter
You can achieve a boatlike object in a short time. Customer support is excellent. The website is a gold mine of info. I am contemplating my third build. CAUTION, it is very addictive.

5 star kayak designs, kits and workshops! I’m through 5 of 5.5 day workshop building a Shearwater 17 and I’m amazed by what is transforming right in front of us. Knowledgeable and friendly staff and a great group of classmates has made for a wonderful week in Annapolis! Highly recommended.
