About this business

The idea for Cherish Pet Cremation was begun after listening to our friends discuss their painful experiences during and after the process of losing their beloved pet. They felt overwhelmed, confused, and uncertain of how to go about providing a dignified end for their best friend . They also painfully remembered the lack of compassion and understanding that should have been shown to them during this time of heartache and grief. As a pet owner myself, I have had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with the pain and ... read more

We'll be forever grateful for the compassion they showed when my dog left us.

Business response:

You are so very welcome, Tamra.

I could not be more pleased with the loving care that Ms. Shirley showed my family during the loss of our beloved family pet. I was happy that somebody answered the phone on a Sunday and made quick arrangements. I had called another place closer to my home, but never got a call back even though the website said emergency contact. Ms. Shirley came out within the time frame she said she would and shared our grief and gave the impression of a true professional. great job all around and I couldn't ask for more!

I am more than happy and comforted that I chose Cherish to take care of our beloved dog Max. You will not find anyone more compassionate than Shirley. I also talked to Amy several times, as she answered my many questions with patience and understanding. Shirley returned Max to me in a beautiful velvet bag inside a sweet paw print... read more

We have had 3 of our dogs cremated! Some people think it's weird, but they have always been our furry children and they deserve to be treated with respect.

After making the difficult decision to have my 16 y.o. Husky/Sheperd mix named O'Malley euthanized because her life quality quickly declined, I called Shirley/Cherish Pet Cremations and Hampton Roads Vet Hospice. Adding to the angst is that O'Malley was my mother's dog from the time O'Malley was 3 months old until my Mom passed in early 2013, so losing O'Malley was like losing another piece of Mom. Shirley & Dr. Thomas were absolutely wonderful. Their supportive nature and gentle handling of both O'Malley and the family made... read more
