I was a long time client (20+ years) of David Cheney until we were audited by the IRS for our 2021 taxes due to a mistake David made in calculating our home interest deduction. His mistake resulted in an IRS audit and caused us to owe the IRS hundreds in interest. I was really polite about the whole thing but after nicely asking David if he'd consider covering the interest charge (which we only owed due to his mistake) or refunding our tax prep fee for that year, he suggested that I find a new CPA. I am not a client of this CPA - I called to inquire. I have been actively looking for a CPA and most do not answer their phones. I was excited to have called and gotten an answer. I started with, Hello, I wanted to see what the cost of your accounting services are? He hesitated and said "well I'm not taking clients that are concerned with costs, try a different approach and somewhere else."
