After performing a routine skin inspection Dr. Chen offered to remove a blemish as "a courtesy" and said I could come back another time if I had any additional concerns. Then he charged me almost $400 for the "service." He also refused to discuss the situation when I brought it to his attention.

Had small growths which needed removal. Went thru scanning process, and nurse wrote down location and type of growth, which I thought would be used for removal process. This was not the case, and they missed one. When I asked about it, was told I could maybe do it next year at my annual review.

Our family started to see Dr. Chen after he correctly spotted a problem mole on my wife that turned out to be melanoma. We are all thankful for him and all he has done for our family! He’s very good at what he does.

Went in for hair loss. Said that my daughter was experiencing anxiety and cutting her own hair. He wouldn’t listen to her medical history and disregarded everything! We tried talking to him about it (she has an ileostomy & other medical needs) but he didn’t want any of that. Awful doctor and person. Avoid him at all costs!

I have seen Dr. Chen for more than 5 years. Yes, his people skills are not the greatest, but I find him to be considerate. He listens to my concerns and while he doesn't always provide the most thorough responses to questions, if you ask follow up questions he will respond with appropriate answers. He has removed minor moles and skin blemishes and the last time I was in he immediately zeroed in on a skin area that needed a biopsy performed. The biopsy was positive for basal cell carcinoma. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I've seen plenty of dermatologist and he is the best by far! Takes his time and looks over EVERY mole. Does not try to push cosmetics on you like most derms and knows what he is talking about. His staff is very helpful with finding the best deals with Rx coverage (Good Rx is amazing!) and is always able to get me in in a timely manner! I hope this helps!

Left his practice- he was abrupt, wildly inaccurate, and rude. My family now sees another dermatologist with much better results. I once had a mole of concern that he told me was "probably a freckle"- the specimen had to be sent to 4 labs to decide if it was melanoma. Today I requested records because I have re-pigmentation of an old biopsy site. Was told my records would not be sent because I had a balance. I explained this was illegal, so they charged me $58 to send my records to my new doctor

He seems knowledgeable but definitely needs to work on his social skills. He is rude and condescending. Looking for a new dermatologist.

I’ve had facial boils for 10 yrs and have used antibiotics. Dr. Chen was rude and patronizing. I told him I get yeast infections from antibiotics and diflucan helps. He offered a month of heavy antibiotics and refused to write a prescription for diflucan - he doesn’t “usually write prescriptions for that.” When I asked him why antibiotics, he stated, “This is my opinion. You’re welcome to get another opinion, like you would with a financial advisor." I've lost hope that any doctor can help.
