A dynamic menu that changes on a daily basis along with a fascinating menu of cocktails awaits you at Chef & the Farmer. From the Peach-pancetta wraps to the bread baskets filled with the goodness of caramelized onions and sweet potatoes to the wood-fired pizzas, this is the best it gets in a small town restaurant delivering big flavors. The decor is styled appropriately with a rustic charm and earthiness, visible on the walls and the furnishing. The restaurant also houses an eclectic beer selection which is produced in thei... read more

A Dainty Little Place I randomly passed by this restaurant on my way through Kinston. I learned that the owner is a farmer and his wife is a chef...hence the name of the restaurant. The place really has a friendly feel to it and the food was top quality. I really did enjoy dining here and will certainly stop by on my next trip through town.
correction to below Actually the male owner is a big time tobacco farmer and the chef is his daughter who came back home to open a restaurant. Food is usually good, but service can be spotty at times.
Fresh, Local, Delish! I have to say, when several friends and several websites directed me to Chef & The Farmer in Kinston, NC of all places, I was skeptical. I read at least 100 reviews before making a reservation. We were beyond impressed. The wait staff was incredibly friendly. Attentive yet unobtrusive. The food was outstanding. Very interesting flavor pairings. My husband had the ribeye, which was the best steak either of us have ever tasted. The fried oyster appetizer was phenomenal, as was the sausage and pimento chee... read more
Chef & the Farmer This is a wonderful place to eat, that is also upscale. They serve fresh food that is grown locally.
Nice meal In this area, there aren't many fine dining options. The Chef and the Farmer was very good for here. I wouldn't compare it to a restaurant in a bigger city or anything, but it's worth checking out.
Chef & The Farmer - a great find in this small town. This is truly a gem of a restaurant located in a town that one wouldn't expect. I am well traveled and enjoy fine dining/wining/cooking - this place could stack up well in any major metropolitan market. The menu is excellent - though the choices and distinctions aren't always as apparent on the printed copy as they are once they arrive at the table. There is plenty of experienced staff around to clarify and advise...from my own experience, Christina who usually works the b... read more
Ate at Chef and the Farmer popup event today with my friend and it was beyond great. The staff was the best and some I saw are like celebrities having seen them on TV so many times and also saw Vivian's mom and dad . What a treat. The food, prices and great staff made it a very enjoyable time and will want to come back many times in the future .
Bill and I have dined at Chef and the Farmer many times and have also taken family and friends there. The experience is always excellent! We especially enjoyed our Day with Vivian Howard experience!!
Excellent comfort food and well oiled company. I would go back!
