I wish I had a chance to meet Dr. Slack but appointments are not respected at his office of 150 N. Michigan Ave Chicago. I made a mid-day appointment showed up 20 minutes early and immediately asked if Dr. Slack was running on time or behind. The secretary replied he is with a patient now and you're next. Well, 1 hour and 10 minutes later still sitting like a duck. Needless to say I left. I cannot speak to his ability as a physician, but if you run a tight schedule and respect your time I would not recommend this office.
Dr. Slack fused my spine 30 years ago using a Harrington rod. This surgery has lasted! I can walk to and from where I volunteer--a total of 4.4 miles--and stand on my feet there for 3-4 hours. I can also dance and do anything without pain. And as a result of the surgery, I breathe better because my lungs have more room. I'm 68 years old.
This surgeon shouldn't call himself a qualified orthopedic physician. He had ruined my back thirty years ago due to his inferior surgical planning and intervention. Postoperatively, I have suffered with severe chronic pain, the loss of my career and permanent disability. 🤐
