WORST ER EXPERIENCE. I waited nearly 5 hours in the Barnes-Jewish ER only to have the on-call specialist not contacted, my pain minimized, and to be discharged. In June, I stepped on a broken needle that became lodged deep in the bottom of my foot, leaving me unable to walk normally. I came to Barnes-Jewish after another hospital failed to arrange timely treatment because I had always heard BJC provided some of the best care in St. Louis. Terrible experience. Dirty floors. Horrific wait times. I waited over 2 hours for an ekg and 5 hours for a chest xray for a chief complaint of chest pain. Was given an IV in triage that I had in for 4 hours while waiting for a room. Nurses were all on their phones. Physician spent limited time with me. All advice was clearly communicated and antibiotics prescribed. They were comforting enough that... read more

6 hour wait for which they were seeing people that just came in before the ones that were there for awhile and then didn't even get the treatment that was needed so when I left I went to different place and got treatment that was needed. This place was highly recommended to me by other people but I highly recommend going elsewhere or even self treatment
