Always a favorite- in fact before I was born, my mother lived on the no. 1 and ice cream. Sometimes eating 2 of them - I carried on having charcoal oven through the years even when times were not the best. Thank I for the wonderful years!!!!!! I regret that we are losing another OKC icon!!!!!
First time I came there was a kid with my older sister. Then when I started working at Baptist Hospital in 1981 I was 23 and a new RN working 3-11. When my friend Sharon and I got off work we would go there and eat and destress.
Made the perfect Caesar burger. True charcoal flavor. You will be GREATLY missed
I came here once, but the food was great, & the staff were awesome. I'm sorry I live in Tulsa now because I would've come to see you one last time. �
I have been coming here for since I was a child! I always get the hickory burger with shredded cheddar! And the fries are always hot, not greasy. I don't know what I will do for a delicious burger and fries now? Sad to see it go! Thank you for 58 years of great food! God bless you in the future!
The nights my dad had a medical meeting at the hospital my mom would take us here many times to have dinner .... from the time I was a young kid until college! Loved the onion rings and thousand island dressing on the chick-a-doodle- do! Then on visits home from college was a must to go to Charcoal Oven for a chick-a-doodle-do and a Johnnie's #1! So so sad to hear Charcoal Oven is closing! Great childhood memories with my family there.... thanks!!
Charcoal Oven is an icon. My father and I for as long as I can remember, would always go here to eat. Amazing food, amazing service. Thank you for the memories. He was head of security at Penn Square Mall, and I out of the Marines, as he was years before, had a great bond
years and years ago when I go out of the Marine Corps my cousin and I went to Penn Square Mall and afterwards we stopped by the Charcoal Oven and I got the Bacon Swiss Mushroom Burger with fries, it was so hot and amazingly good I ordered one more to go
