This restaurant has gone downhill over the years. It is so expensive. service is super slow. I got a cheese enchilada and they microwave the crap out of it so chewy will not be going back. Got a large house margarita it was so watered down $15. Again so expensive. You do not get what you pay for foods expensive and cheap and drinks are cheap.

I am frequently asked what my favorite Mexican restaurant in Kansas City is. My response is always Chapala Mexican Restaurant. I am afraid the restaurant might close because, sadly, there is street construction in front of the restaurant, and people think the street is closed. Yummy Mexican food with reasonable prices. Nice open space that's not too loud. It's a bit softer on theming than many other Mexican restaurants (including their old location) but that's not important to me. My only knock is the lighting could be a bit more intimate. They nail the important things (food and service) and I will be going back soon. Edit: after visiting a few times, I noted the service has been quite slow, especially at lunch.
