We were advised where to 'hide' our money to get as much $ from FAFSA as we could. We closed accounts and got hit with $9k+ in penalties at tax time, not to mention the $5k fee we paid to use CFAST. They wanted us to use their service to help fill out FAFSA but it was really not needed (it isn't hard to fill out the forms) and the service was going to charge $1k. I'm glad we didn't do it. Concur with Donut Domination's review - We only did the initial service for about $1,000. Once we realized that we would need to liquidate basically all of our assets to place them into a trust or an annuity (which was what they were trying to sell us), we decided that we were done with the services that they were offering. IOM if you can afford the service here, most likely your child isn't getting any need based aid. We saw this as an elaborate insurance/annuity sales pitch.
