We stayed there 2 years ago, the night before a Mayo appointment. We wanted to try a new place, as our prior favorite location had fallen into disrepair and neglect. This place had good reviews and a great location, so we gave it a shot. Parking was terrible, little to no signage. We actually wondered if we were in the right place. We usually stay at a different hotel when visiting the Mayo but the road construction in Rochester made the Centerstone the only hotel in the Mayo area that was easily accessible. The good stuff: 1) Twigs (the attached restaurant) is very good with an ambitious menu. Our server was attentive and sweet. 2) The room was dirt cheap. A discount is given to Mayo patients/family. 3) Parking is convenient and free - unless the lot is full. Free shuttle to Mayo and surrounding area (e.g., mall) but not to the airport ($30). There are the main hotel building and some extended stay apartments around. The main building rooms are very dated. The extended stay buildings look very old from outside... They let us check in early for free, which is very nice. The room is very dated but quite spacious (except for the bathroom). The floor/carpet doesn't look clean... Found a dirty towel in the drawer... The beds are comfortable, towels are clean.
