*EDITED* The owner of Thira Health (Angela Olson) has really taken initiative to contact me and make sure that I was safe. She took my feedback very seriously and has reassured me that corrective action and training will happen following the session I had. I’m happy to relay that she got me connected with a new therapist that would better suit my needs. Just had my first session today and was counting down the days. Unfortunately I can only speak for myself when I say this was the most pointless session I’ve ever had. Not one thing said was comforting or helpful in any way. I got very emotional as one does when discussing one’s hardship and my therapist cut me off and said “well we have two minutes left, do you want to book with me again?” Like what??? What a frustrating experience. Waste of my time, money, and emotion. I was dropped by my counselor (who was new) because I wouldn't consider AA. I didn't even come to counseling for alcohol abuse, I came for depression and anxiety deeply rooted in my unfair and terrible employment situation. I never felt like she heard me or even really cared. Then she told me she was a recovering alcoholic and demanded I go to AA in order to continue seeing her. It was very out of the blue.
