DO NOT RENT FROM CBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I could give zero stars I would - the one star is for the maintenance staff ONLY, who were great. Here’s just a quick recap of everything that occurred during my 12 month lease: - When we moved in, a window was broken and wide open, which is especially concerning because the apt was a basement unit (accessible from the street) and it was unclear how long it was open for. - Within the first week of living there, we quickly realized there was a bug infestation. Worst place I’ve ever lived. The walls are paper thin—you can hear everything from your neighbors, like you're sharing a unit. The leasing office is rude at best and completely unsupportive. Once you sign the lease, they treat you with zero professionalism and borderline hostility. Do yourself a favor and live literally anywhere else. 100 Avon Apartments.
Looking through some of these reviews (I'm nosey), it's clear that the majority were people that didn't get their way (and probably didn't read through their lease before signing). CBS owns several buildings and rents to at least 1,000 kids/year, I assume. Out of 40-something reviews spanning about a decade, only half being negative... do the math. My personal experience? There are a lot of bad reviews here, but honestly when I rented with CBS (2022-2023), they were very responsive. The maintenance people are so nice, communicative, and prompt. I’ve had much more difficulty with maintenance at well-reviewed rental companies in Charlottesville. I locked myself out a couple times and my apartment flooded twice, and maintenance was always prompt and cared about fixing the issue for good.
