We canceled our reservation for early September due to the wildfires and while most other businesses and airlines were accommodating with change and cancellation fees, Castle was not. We were still charged the full cancellation fee and told it could not be reduced because the rest of the island was open, meanwhile tourists were actively encouraged to leave and postpone. We made plans with to book a place on Maui. Castle's representative, ******* took a $499 "service fee" unjustifiably (without even telling us) and did not answer our messages until VRBO Trust and Security team took over. Eventually, we were refunded the money.
On 2/17/18, my friends and I had reservations at the Queens Court Restaurant located in the lobby of this hotel. We live in Hilo and enjoy the buffet, but have had one too many occurrences with the same manager who provides the WORST service and most UNPROFESSIONAL manner ever. These occurrences happened years apart so NOTHING has changed. My husband and I made an online reservation for a specific room at the Waimea Country Lodge two months in advance. We received an online confirmation with a picture of the room we booked and paid for. When we stopped by the motel to view the room two weeks later they showed us a different room, much smaller and in worse condition. If we wanted the room we originally booked we would have had to pay another $50+ per night. This was unacceptable, it's called 'bait and switch'.
