The food was great! The atmosphere was horrible. I took my wife for our anniversary & we were surrounded by extrememly loud drunks. We could not even speak to each other. There were many empty tables in quieter sections and we were sat right next to a large party of loud people. We left with headaches!
Carver is the best and I would never attempt to get in there on a Saturday without a reservation.
We read the previous and much older reviews before going to Carvers for the first time lastnight and thought we were in for a real treat...nothing could be further from the truth! The service was excellent (it should have been as there was only two other customers there on a saturday night which should have been our first clue!) but the steak and prime rib were horrible. The caesar salad was okay, the clam chowder was disgusting and even the side dishes were not good. We would not recommend this restaraunt to anyone.
The first time I visited Carver's was with my boyfriend on the Valentine's Day weekend 2009. I called eariler and made reservations because I expected it to be busy. It was! My husband I recently visited Carvers for our anniversary and our first time eating there. The service was excellent and the steaks were delicious! After dinner and to our surprise was music in a seperate lounge area. This really topped off our anniversary as the band played all our requests. It's nice to know that Dayton still has a first class eatery with live entertainment!
Australian lobster is not as good as Maine lobster. The service at Carvers was great! I thought I would try the lobster, but it was not worth the price, but the service was great! I guess cold water lobster is better and it is cheaper too! Next time I will get the salmon or steak. I thought the service was wonderful, and I dine out often! I spent over $200 on a meal for two, (my choice) and the service was very fine, but just a tip, the lobster was not that good.
