This company is fraudulent. They took over management of a apartment complex I lived in a month after I put in my 60 day notice and was in good standing at and dishonored my notice claiming to not have received it (“Although my last month was prorated per my lease end date”) and sent me to collections for a balance of $3000 + dollars for not giving proper notice. I have lived in my apartment for two years now and do not plan to renew my lease. After my first year, the property changed over to Carter-Haston and my quality of living has lowered since then. Stay away from this company at all costs. My mother was a resident in one of their properties for 5 years. Unfortunately, she passed away last month. This company expected a 2 month penalty payment for breaking her lease. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? When they realized that they couldn't charge a dead person the penalty, they decided to keep her $800 security deposit instead, money I needed to help bury her. Hello, As we are saddened by the loss in this situation. The lease does clearly state, there is not a release from the contract for several reasons including death. We we're within our legal rights to charge the two-month termination fee selected by the resident however, we chose not to enforce and collect any funds from the resident's family during their time of loss. I rented from this company in 2011 it was an apartment. I moved out 1 month early on the lease. I gave them 60 day notice paid all rent current and signed over my deposit to cover last month. They turned a bill over to collection agencey for 5700 and it is now on my credit. They will do nothing to help. They dont care only out to get money out of someone who done it right!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beware if you have an emergency and need to leave even if you pay it they will try to get something out of you.
