I came in to order a special tool that I found on store's website. Since this was a more expensive tool (~$50) and I did not know whether I would end up using it, I specifically asked the employee whether it can be returned. After he confirmed this, I went ahead and placed an order which I picked up on the next day. I came back a few days later to return the tool and I was told by the store manager who happened to be there that it was not possible.
