I purchased a car from CarMax while moving across the country after my old car broke down. I clearly explained my situation to several sales, finance, and business staff, and was assured multiple times that I could register the car in my destination state rather than my origin state. While driving, my temporary tags came off. When I contacted CarMax for help, I was told that I now have to register the vehicle in my origin state after all—completely contradicting what I was told before.
