I was quite amazed. The whole process was straightforward, no haggling, polite people to work with and the entire sale process was complete in under 1 1/2 hours. Did I get less than a private sale? Probably, but, I never had to meet a stranger and take them on a test drive, and I never had to worry about some scammer and their funny money games. I was safe and that’s worth a lot more than you might think!
Terrible overall experience. We were gonna buy a car private party and had one already picked out but decided we’d rather get something from a “reputable” dealer. We are on a time crunch and needed a car before the end of the month. Got one transferred from Utah, only took a few days to get here. Well, after the “quality check” I don’t hear anything for days, keep calling trying to get information but no one can tell me anything about why it’s taking so long. Horrible experience. Girlfriend WAS GOING TO purchase a vehicle but they lied about all the photos and their policies. Car was clearly either in an accident or broken into but they were lying about everything. Crazy work.
My Wife just got done with a salesman there who lied to her about being a sub-prime account even though her credit was well above the threshold. So, Carmax is actually trying to subsidize buyers with better credit scores to get bonuses on interest rates. Shady shady shady! Went down the road to Mazda and guess what??? interest rate went from 16% down to 6% magically wow!
