We bought a 2019 Toyota Highlander from Car Max of Tupelo, MS and took it back within the first 30 days for a light coming on the dashboard and the car was jumping when we stopped. We were told there was nothing wrong with the car. We took it to Toyota and they told us the prior service had not been done and it was $920.00 to bring the car up to date. Ordered a truck online and it too almost 2 weeks for them to ship it under 300 miles. At the South Portland location, I arrived for a 10:30 appointment to process the paperwork and that's where it really went bad. The salesperson I had was totally inept. She had to keep asking me the same questions over and over because she had no Idea what she was doing. I purchased a GMC Denali from the Covington, LA store on December 10th, 2024. I had to return the vehicle on December 20th, 2024 due to the fact it had a bad engine. I put $5000.00 as a down payment, and to date over a month later CarMax will not return my down payment. I have requested numerous times to the Covington business office, and have been told time and time again that they were waiting for Carmax to issue a check. This is about Carmax King of Prussia. At this location an appointment means getting in line and waiting for someone to help you. In other words, a 2PM appointment doesn't mean you're going to be taken care of at 2PM or soon after. I waited 45 minutes after which I was told they don't know when someone will see me so I left. When I complained about it I received an apology and an offer to make another appointment, but with not guarantee that someone will see within 15 minutes of that appointment. Buying a car from CarMax has literally ruined my life . Bought a jeep 2 years ago from CarMax. $435 monthly payment that included maxcare ( extended maintenance warranty). Carmax charged me $14,990 for a car worth $8,000 max. I'm actually paying $25,000. Here I am 2 years later and I've been making $435 car payments for the past 5 months for a car I can't drive, an extended warranty that won't help and too top it all off lost my job due to not having a vehicle.
