Writing this as a 22 y/o , I had my braces from the age of 13 to 17. While I thought everything was great when I got them off, the dentist I saw a year or so after thought otherwise. He actually didn't believe me when I told him I had braces for so long. Yes I wore my retainers and even have permanent ones for the top and bottom. Then he went along with asking me how I eat food..Turns out that the back of my teeth, the molars that you grind your food with, don't even touch. He says I need another 2 years of braces.
