Low key, excitement Carl's is a hoot!!! Once you walk everyone glares at you as if your not welcomed, but the glares quickly diminish as soon as you find your place in the bar. Great bar games with darts (4 boards), pool table, buck hunter, and some 1980 video games that don't fit. The seating is kind of weird, have to make your own. Also the crowd is very random. Wear your sweats This bar is about a block away from my friend's place in Des Moines. The best thing about it is - you can roll out of bed (in your pajamas) and go straight to the bar and not feel underdressed.
Neighborhood Dive Bar Carl's is like the Cheers of Sherman Hills. It's a dive bar by all definitions with a very "come as you are" attitude. You never know what you will encounter on a night at Carl's but you will definitely have a good time in a relaxed atmosphere.
