I had an apartment with my family and my daughter, but I separated from my partner and ended up homeless. I found this place called Caritas. I didn't have any money for anything; I only had rental assistance. When I signed the lease, I had no other choice but to sign it. They wanted to charge me $800 every month. For the past few years, I’ve worked with a food ministry which supplies home-cooked food to the men at the YMCA Cambridge. Caritas has managed this Y during this time. The staff in general has been supportive of our effort. More recently a certain staff member has demonstrated support that has been especially notable. I am surprised at some of the negative reviews I read. One can complain all day long, but having been homeless, I have NOTHING BUT GREAT APPRECIATION for Caritas Communities and the good people who run it. I live in one of their buildings in the Fenway which is CLEANED WEEKLY and without fail. And rent is below ANYTHING (by far!!!!!) than anything you will ever find. I am shocked that anyone would complain about this unique and amazing community resource.
This non profit gets zero stars. Claiming to help homeless is a farce, the rooming house I was placed was full of addicts who cooked drugs out in the open there. Even worse things happened. I was evicted while I was in hospital, they knew I was in hospital too. There is nothing charitable about this organization. Posting this is taking a chance, I have nothing to live for since I was evicted , I’m now homeless w an eviction on my history. I was so close to leaving for a decent place but they ruined my chances.
Why does this tenant keeps doing this. This is a no sleep zone that’s why we all have rooms upstairs! I live at 820 Massachusetts Avenue the Cambridge ymca.
