I was notified that my Carilion primary care provider would be leaving in August. It was devastating, and the ONLY person at the other Carilion clinics I called who was kind and understanding was Linda at this clinic. She assured me that they would take care of me for anything I needed until I could find a PCP elsewhere. Other places had treated me very abruptly and rudely. But Linda was a breath of fresh air!
Doctor in there played with my pain and played with my time, looked at me like a brown person who was lying about my pain level. Turns out I had two herniated discs and a cyst on my spine. She looked at me and said it’s not that bad after I told her that my quality of life sucked. They don’t even send your referrals. Make you come back for 8-10 appointments before addressing your issue.
My 5 star review is based solely on the services provided to me by Charlie Hartman. I checked myself into Carillon for help and received less than mediocre care from the health care professionals. I felt trapped and scared at times and Charlie was the only one that offered me genuine empathy. He checked in on me and encouraged me the whole way. I am beyond grateful for his kindness and understanding.
In May this year, I moved from Austin, Texas to the Roanoke area—my father’s home town. I’ve had a pretty tough time landing myself a Primary Care doctor—most of them who take my insurance are booked up till January or even to July of 2025. Yikes. Thanks to the Carillon Health group here, I ended up Wednesday afternoon at this Community Clinic as a way-station, i.e., they’re going to try to find me both a Primary care doctor as well as a Pulmonologist.
