I had to take my daughter there and she worked with the most understanding therapists. My daughter hadn't received services for any counseling until a suicide attempt lead to a crisis plan, which revealed my YOUNGER SISTER, harmed my child. She went to cares and even though it took many months to see progress, it was more than worth it. Cares took about a year for my teen to complete. They treated us very well but I’m not sure what they have actually helped us with. Can’t get records for court without jumping thru 1,000 hoops..Never followed up with therapy referral..just disappointed because I was under the impression they would be more useful. I really don’t understand the concept behind this service.

CARES lied, and told us they had enough info to make an arrest. Than 6 months or so later said they would talk to the guy, and call us back. They never made an arrest. Never called us back. They dropped the charged first time with our even telling us. My kid had a extremely hard time talking to them, and even when she was able to make out what happened they didn't believe her. So unless you have concrete evidence they most likely won't do anything. Oregon doesn't care about kids, and CARES doesn't care. Only thing that I did... read more

Be very careful of taking your child here. Once your child makes a disclosure they will be moved to an interview room. A detective will sit in behind privacy window and then conduct an investigation. The investigation chances of happening are very low and false information will be given to you about the accusation being untrue. No matter what, believe your child! Children do not make up things and as a loving parent it will be ultimately up to you to keep your child safe and seek help through other avenues.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Cares NW. The staff are all so kind. I had to bring my children here and they left wanting to go back! They each came home with a new had made blanket, a stuffed animal and a new toy each. The staff made sure that my husband and I were informed of the process prior to them speaking with the kids. And gave us so many helpful recommendations. I have been thinking about their kindness ever since. Truly thankful to the staff at Cares NW.
