As someone who worked in social work for 3 years and ended up needing housing assistance and went thru CARE communities to apply for an apartment I am SO deeply disappointed in the way they handle working with low income families. For an organization who portrays itself as “housing first” and trauma informed, they are everything but that! I had applied for an apartment, they made me pay $35 for the application which is understandable but also made me pay $100 deposit/for a hold on the apartment. They don't help anyone over 50 people have been rejected back to back they are stealing the funding for the less fortunate people.
