History Established in 1967. Capt. Benny's are family owned and operated seafood restaurants dating back to 1967. The original restaurants were a mere boat shaped oyster bar serving up a limited menu of freshly shucked oysters, gumbo, boiled shrimp, fried catfish, shrimp and oysters. The concept has since evolved into a slightly larger menu with more seating but those are about the only changes made in 43 years.
