Will never go again – The food was mediocre. I ordered the made at the table without jalapenos. It was overwhelmingly seasoned with cilantro. I could not taste the lime or garlic. Overall very bland. The Queso Laredo tasted like it was made with warm Cheese Whiz. The flour tortillas were obviously not home made. The apple pie was very flavorable, but the apples were undercooked. The bag that the to go container of my queso was in had spilled queso on the outside. I had to ask for another one so I wouldn't get queso on my clo... read more

Not worth it – I have eaten at Cantina Laredo three times now and have yet to find a dish that is worth eating. It is overpriced for no reason and if you're looking for Tex-Mex you will find this place unsatisfying. I know there are people that like it, but to me much of the food lacks the flavor and spices you expect when dinging at a Mexican food restaurant. On a good note, the service is always excellent.

Delicious Brownie Goodness – The entrees are a bit pricey, but of quite good quality, if not something to write home about. The freshly made table-side quacamole is wonderful in that you can spice it (or un-spice it) however you like. But my very favorite thing about Cantina Laredo is the Mexican Brownie -- a huge pecan brownie brought to your table on a platter sizzling with melting Mexican Brandy Butter and topped with a huge scoop of vanilla or cinnamon ice cream. It is decadent and delicious and worth the trip.

Great food, great atmosphere – I wasn't sure I wanted to go downtown, but I'm glad we did. The place was really nice and the food was excellent. I especially recommend the enchiladas veracruz and the top shelf guacamole. It's made at your table and it was the best guacamole I've had in a long time. They also had great margaritas and two different salsas at the table. Everyone was really friendly and we had a great time. I'll definitely recommend it to friends.

Can't stop myself. – I go every week. I work and live downtown and find the people to be so much more attentive than most downtown restaurants. The two salsa are a unique touch. One is served hot and one is served cold, but both are wonderful. I usually order the brisket tacos, but I havn't found anything I didn't like. I'll go again next week. Much better than most mexican food restaturants in Austin.

EXCELLENT PEOPLE, EXEPTIONAL FOOD!!!!!! – I went to Cantina Laredo two days ago on Saturday... It was the best experience in a while... Our waiter was ultra nice and really good at answering all my questions... He was awesome... It all stared with the welcoming environment and a great warm welcome from the hostess she kindly took us to a great cozy booth and told us about the Top Shelf Guac made table side... We couldn't turn that down... I had the shrimp flautas which was ultra tasty and delicious... I just say give it a sh... read more

Much better than people are saying, give it a chance on an off day – Went on a Monday night and no one was there. The guacamole is amazing, the beef fajitas are marinated so well, the margaritas are great, tortialla soup is some of the best I have had and the Camaron Poblano Asada was also really good but a bit heavy for me. Tequila flight with three premium tequilas was only 20 bucks! All is all I was pleasantly surprised.

So bad we never even sat down! – I have to say Catina Laredo is the WORST RUN RESTURANT IN AUSTIN. I wish I could tell you about the food, but the service was so bad we never even got a table. We came in on a quite Sunday evening around 6. I would hate to see this place if it was actually busy. When we arrived there were literally nine empty tables that we could see from the door, all with dirty dishes, but we were assured by the host it take just a minute to clean one off. After at least 10 minutes of watching the host get ... read more

try the killer botanas platter and fresh guac! – After reading a few less than flattering reviews, I couldn't resist adding my dos centavos: I wandered into Cantino Laredo with seven of my girlfriends post happy hour at Cedar Street. They were able to seat us right away. Our server was friendly and patient (despite our decision to try making our own guacamole at the table-it wasn't as good as the top shelf guac he eventually talked us into). We ordered the botanas platter and, I think, nachos al carbon. The botanas platter w... read more
