About this business

Since its inception in 1996, the Canal street Pub & Restaurant has been a favorite among most locals in Berk's County owing to its casual yet overwhelming atmosphere. The main entrance may give you a pompous impression with the large logo of the pub on its front facade, but the interiors are pleasantly modest. The golden wood polished interiors and the spacious seating arrangement of the pub give a uniquely serene feel to the place. The pub also features a pool table and gives a pleasant view of the brewery alongside it, alo... read more

I have only been to Reading once before a few years back and came to this restaurant. Didn’t remember until I walked in. Excellent food and service!

I love this place. It’s a beautiful building with a large bar and tons of table seating. The bartenders (Dan & John) are welcoming and overall good dudes. I usually go for beer and sit at the bar; they have an amazing rotating tap list. The food is fresh and tasty. I love the hand cut fries & corn and crab bisque. The portions are large, which make the prices reasonable. Canal Street hosts a couple of beer fests annually, notably Brewphoria, which is just crazy fun. Menu is good, lots of options and some opportunities for 1/2 portions that allows you to try multiple items. The crab fondue was really great. Mussels in the garlic sauce great. I love sauces and mixtures and this place has ‘em. Incredible beer menu as well. I particularly liked the bourbon barrel draft I ordered.

Atmosphere was good, wait staff was friendly. The food was sub par. Crab wontons, 6 very small. Tavern cod, 1 small very greasy piece. Burger was served raw and when it was sent back to the kitchen it returned within 2 minutes with rubbery bacon, runny cheese and dry meat. Obviously microwaved. May return for a beer at bar but that would be all.

Mixed bag on our 1st visit. Service was poor. Waitress was not very efficient and seemed to have an attitude. Portions were small for the price. Food itself was pretty good. 50/50 on trying it again.
