I reached out to Canadian Hearing Services when I was really struggling as a hard of hearing student in Canada and trying to get support for work and education. They did respond and were polite, and they explained clearly that they only support people living in Ontario. Booked interpreters several weeks in advance and then they all backed out at the last minute. If you are looking for interpreters for an event, I recommend working with one of the for-profit companies that offer this service as they seem to be more accountable / reliable.
I had a good experience here. I went in for a free hearing test during a promotion years ago. My hearing tested “above average,” which surprised me because oftentimes my comprehension is so far off and/or delayed when people talk to me. When I mentioned confusion due to noticeable impairment, the staff member conducting my hearing test suggested the issue could be more about how I process sound than how I hear it. 👎👎 I never will go back to CHS ever again! Also CHS is downsizing. Many employees are always laid off. Their service is very bad.
