RecommendedSome of my best childhood memories were made at Camp O. Lifelong friendships were forged. It had such a positive impact on my life. I’m so happy that my daughter has loved & enjoyed camp as much as I did. This will be her third year! Heepwah!

It was brought to my attention on yesterday that a staff member posted some comments supposedly made by campers that were in her care. These children she referred to as “ urban from East St Louis”. What could have been a teachable moment she decided to share with the world for laughs and to make these children look bad. I am highly upset and offended by one of your staff member’s (Stephanie Lysl) comments on social media in regards to “urban 11 yr- olds from East St. Louis”. Stephanie Lysl made a mockery of the children she was entrusted to guide by disclosing comments that the children allegedly made. I am a resident of East St. Louis and I’m disgusted at the comments she posted and how she negatively portrayed our children! This was an unfair, inaccurate, and insensitive depiction of the amazing children in East St. Louis!
I am saddened by the insensitivity of a particular counselor who chose to publicly tweet “funny” quotes from young African American campers recently unbeknownst to them. This is unprofessional and a breech of confidentiality. I hope one person’s actions do not represent the entire organization.
We did the weekend event Waterfalls, Wildflowers and Wineries and it was excellent! Wonderful service and care. So fun!
