Dr Hostetter and hygienists are SO SENSITIVE with my son with autism. They provided sunglasses for bright light, a weighted pad (for x-rays) throughout the exam to help 'ground' him, and only did the minimal exam necessary in order to help him overcome his fear of the dentist. The first time the exam was on a waiting bench on my lap. But now we've progressed to the exam chair and regular cleanings/exams. I have no concerns that my son will be fine going to the dentist in the future.
