About this business

Calico is an old West mining town that has been around since 1881. With its 500 mines, Calico produced over $20 million in silver ore over a 12-year span. Calico lost its population when silver values fell. It's now part of the county parks system.

I've been twice to Calico in the past 6 months and every time I've visited it has been an amazing experience...The second time I visited I took my teenager kids(13,14 &15 ) and I was apprehensive about how they would react, fortunately for me they loved it! I definitely recommend this place to everyone!!! ;-)

I got there late but it definitely has the western feel to it. Can’t wait to go back when it isn’t freezing cold due to wind

Civil War Days was very disappointing. The only good experience was Tea Time at Town Hall with Miss Priscilla. The rest of it was standing around watching Soldiers smoke cigars and only talk amongst themselves, with an Intermission of simulated battle.

Lots of historical facts article's that they had to do all the mining that went on here. It's just amazing how they live and work back then.

Very interesting piece of Old California History. Silver and then Borax mining town - if the rocks could talk.. they would have stories to tell.

Love the RV camp grounds, you have all the accommodations right at your finger tips. For us the best part was being able to dump right at your campsite..and decent roads! The town is a great place to hangout, variety of stores and things to do. We stopped in all the stores and purchased items to help support them and to keep they’re stores going and hope you’ll do the same. Calico is a nice getaway for the weekend for those who just want to get out and not have to drive far. Enjoy

Had a good time despite wind and cold. In the campgrounds it would be nice if there were cabins in the upper levels too (closer to Town). Wish there were some characters and all shops open (blacksmith, etc) on regular weekends too. Overall, great, relaxing weekend!
