I've had a very good experience with Calgary Counselling Centre. It was really easy to get connected with a counsellor and I really appreciate the low cost of the sessions. Ashley Enzie has been so wonderful to deal with. She makes me feel very heard and seen and has really created an environment that feels safe and comfortable. I've done counselling in the past and it never really went anywhere but because of the safe environment that Ashley has created, I'm talking about things that I have always avoided. I had an appointment with last month and when I arrived, reception hadn’t been notified and had me fill out an intake form on a computer. I didn’t think anything of it, and when I was done the intake I asked reception if a someone would like to see me, which they clued in that I was there to meet a councillor. This was an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience. I reached out to this counselling centre because my 6-year-old is going through significant changes and needed support right away. I completed the online intake form and was quickly matched with a therapist, which was initially reassuring. But that didn’t last long. After completing the detailed intake form, I was matched with an intern. The outreach email had no intro or info on their approach, just a generic booking request. The session felt off. Minutes in, I was told she only had 3 sessions left (not disclosed upfront). At the end, she asked me to complete and submit a survey while still on the call and explain my ratings, which felt uncomfortable.
