This dining room and pub at the Golf Club at Newcastle has a covered terrace with spectacular views of Bellevue, Seattle and the Olympic Mountains. Dark wooden beams, floors and furniture create a casual ambiance. The fare includes seafood and dry-aged, corn-fed Angus beef. Other dishes include Turkey Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and Seafood Fettuccine. Try the three-berry cobbler for dessert. The smoke-free restaurant features a full bar, banquet facilities and private rooms.

Second time to this 'restaurant': Food: 2 cheeseburgers (undercooked), iced tea, 2 side salads, 2 Cokes $76 BEFORE tip and a $3 split plate charge. Warm ice water, no ice, slow refills (90 deg day). They charged us PER refill on the Cokes which had a strong taste of pencil lead but it was hot and they were the only cold liquids available after our waitress abandoned us. Service: (?) 20-25 minutes for 2 undercooked cheeseburgers. 1.5 hours for a quick lunch, only because we hurried the waitress so we could leave. Atmosphere: ... read more
Amazing food, beautiful scenery, top notch staff! – We have been to the Calcutta Grill for brunch before, but never for dinner. It was my birthday and we wanted to go somewhere with a beautiful ambience and some scenery this time! (We have 3 kids and usually are at very loud kid-filled establishments!) We had an amazing time! Our server was top notch: polite, knowledgeable, quick... no long wait periods, etc... Even the guy serving the water and refilling was extremely polite and professional! We shared a bowl of their WONDE... read more
Hyped to try this place for Real. – Well, the first time I came to the Newcastle Golf Club was for my senior year prom a year ago. Everyone was dressed formal. All Gents and Ladies. I didn't exactly had what the menu had offered. It was just a buffets style dinner. Which was delicious. I am about to go there for an actual dinner. Do you know if the Calcutta Grill is on the right side or the left side when looking from the parking lot? And is the pub menu available during dinner? I'm excited to see the sunset! Are we allowed ... read more
Could be sooooo much better!! – I live in the Golf Course and go to the Calcutta Grill alot but twice I've had very bad experiences with the food. Once a velcro clip was found in my salad and the second time, items were put in my salad which I definately cannot eat. They also forgot chicken in the Cobb salad so it was mostly just lettuce and tomatoes for $16. The manager was so apologetic and understands my concerns since I really want this restaurant to succeed since it's so close to me and it's one of the best views nearby... read more
Beautiful Ambiance, Good Food – I have enjoyed many evenings at the Calcutta Grill and it is my favorite place to enjoy a bottle of wine with friends while enjoying the gorgeous surrounding view and the great touches like the bagpiper. My favorite place to sit is the south patio of the restaurant - more relaxing / comfprtable than the main patio for dining. I also LOVE the Wooly Toad. I appreciate the menu being more simple than in years past - just good food - the seasonal ravioli is always a treat and the prime rib is fabu... read more
What a fall from grace! What a waste of world class scenery! – What happened?! This used to be 1 of my favorite places; it is VERY heartbreaking to see how much this place has declined. The once attentive, knowledgeable staff has been replaced by warm bodies. My friends & I decided to enjoy dinner & a view at Calcutta Grill. The oblivious hostess sat our party @ a table w/a nice centerpiece of sticky mystery sauce & was trying to hand us our menus WHILE we were trying to dust off a layer of crumbs off of our seats. & what a ... read more
Class Act – The 2-Fer coupon mailed to local residents the month of October was a huge factor in our group deciding to dine there recently. While the food has never been what would be considered 5-star, it is seasonal and tasty with a nice variety of choices, especially the pastas and seafood. Happy Hour (Mon-Fri.) is a great time to relax, enjoy the fabulous view and partake in some of the many inventive cocktails (yum to the Calcutta Cosmo) or the basic beer/wine selections. An array of 1/2 price appetizers including calam... read more
Not good this time – I had dinner with my family last night, half year had past since last time. My impression was good, but now ...not. The serve was slow, we had to wait several times. And the steak (Top sirloin was runned out. New York steak was sreved instead) tastes too bitter by burnt too much, although inside is still red. I could eat less than half. The chef was changed? This time was no good, I hope it will be better next time.
Great Food Genuine Service Best View – We dined at The Calcutta Grill and I had one of the best fresh swordfish dishes and my date loved the prime rib. From the restaurant you can see the entire Puget Sound area including Seattle, Bellevue, Lake Washington, Puget Sound and the Olympics. They've got a guy who plays the bag pipes each night at sunset too. Service was warm and professional. We'll be back. If you like golf, they've got the best of that too.
