About this business

This is one of the better known Mexican food restaurants in the Holladay area of Salt Lake City. Although the restaurant features an extensive menu of authentic Mexican cuisine at very reasonable prices, locals and regulars show a strong preference for the selection of homemade tamale dishes. Entrees are resonable, and portions are generous. Beer and wine are available with meals, and all menu items can be ordered for take-out.

Great mexican food, wonderful staff – Cafe Silvestre's menu and food remind some folks of La Frontera and La Puenta because those two are later offshoots from Cafe Silvestre, having basically taken the same concept and recipes years ago from Gloria Ruiz, who founded Cafe Silvestre back in 1976. It is Gloria's fabulous original recipes which have driven all three groups, but hers remains THE BEST. Her chile verde was, is and always will be the very best you will find anywhere. Same goes for her tamales with mole, her enchilad... read more

best Mex in SLC! First choice when craving Mexican food! Small & large combo plates, with chips salsa and guacamole is enough to feed you for a week! Well worth the drive. Family friendly and cheap Kids menu. I even got to watch the NCAA finals downstairs while we ate!

Don't bother A horrible place. Did not accept a coupon from restaurant.com that I had purchased the day before, bathrooms smelled, and prices were nothing spectacular. Decided to leave when we had three strikes. Didn't appear to be anything special. 0 stars if I could give it

Yummy Salsa. – This is a favorite family dining spot for us. The food is wonderful, they always remember us and you really can't beat the price. They even have hamburgers and chicken strips for the little ones...and man..the fries are amazing! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a casual, affordable yummy mexican dining experience.

ABSOLUTLY WONDERFUL – MY FRIENDS AND I LOVE TO EAT HERE WHEN EVER WE GET TOGEATHER! WE ARE PROOF THAT THE FOOD IS GREAT BECAUSE WE DRIVE ACROSS TOWN TO EAT IT! THE FOOD IS SO AFFORDABLE! THE SEVERS THERE KNOW OUR NAMES AND THEY EVEN KNOW WHICH TABLE IS OUR FAVORITE! ONE NIGHT THEY HAD A COMEDIAN, IT WAS GREAT!

A small, comfortable example of Salt Lake's taste for Americanized Mexican food. – The Scene It's small and worn, but cozy--the wait staff is so friendly that you'll almost feel like you're in somebody's home. The menu is remarkably similar to the many La Frontera and La Puente locations around town. The Food If you're hungry, go for the small combination--it's anything but small, including a taco, tostada, burrito and enchilada. Or bump it up to the large combo, adding chile verde. On weekend mornings, ask for menudo--it's ... read more
