Do not let the name fool you, this is no simple cafe. It is one of the most highly rewarded, oft-mentioned restaurants on the island of Hawai'i. Serving a unique fusion of Pacific Basin and Continental cuisines, this place is perfect for a memorable occasion. The decor is simple. The food, on the other hand, is marvelously complex. Signature items include the Wok-Fired Shrimp and Scallops, Chili Grilled Shrimp Pizza and the Island Seafood Risotto. There is another location on the West Side, Kohala Coast.

Made reservations for 6pm. It's 6:32pm and still waiting to be seated. Last time I ate here I had pork bones on my pizza a square inch I'm size, let the waiter know kindly. Received no compensation or acknowledgments he even still sold us on desert and charged us in full for our entire meals.
Tends to burn pizza but fresh salad ingredients. Homeless beg out front ... Could use valet parking as a bonus service.
When I lived in Hawaii I used to go there by myself for a special treat to myself when my kids were having visitation with their dad. I loved the food, but, I loved the glasses and purchased one. Well, I now live in Colorado and owned this one glass for close to 15 years I think. Well a few weeks back the glass broke and this weekend is my current husband and my 11th Wedding Anniversary and for my Anniversary Gift he tracked down the restaurant and got me an entire set of the glasses. I am so tickled. Thank you Cafe Pesto !
The food was absolutely delicious! We just happened by it and was glad we did! I can't describe the wonderful meal without my mouth watering. Will definitely go back the next time I'm in Hawaii!
Slow service. Surly waiter. So much hot peppers in the pasta it almost gave me anaphylaxis. Didn't bother to try and correct it and no offer to reduce price due to dinner being inedible. Horrible.
The mango glazed chicken was subtle, yet noteworthy. We will definitely go back when in Hilo again. Good service, too!
