Best German Hole in the Wall! Hidden treasure! – I have been visiting this place for about 30 years! Don't listen to the other ridiculous comments... This place is amazing...the food is so authentic just like my grandmother's (Oma)... Sure the neighborhood is looking tired but this place has been around for over 40 years in the same spot....and there's a reason for that! Don't let the exterior fool you or bozo critics....my favorite is the schnitzel and german potato salad... washed down with a bottle of hefeweizen... I have... read more

DELI MEAT EXPIRED AND PAST FRESH – purchased about $20 of European style deli meats only to open them up at home and find them past the verge of rotton! That meat will be green in the morning! There is NO WAY the woman who cut and wrapped that meat did not smell that meat! It was foul! SHAME on her!

RIPPED OFF BY A RESTAURANT – I had been looking forward to eating at the "other" German restaurant in Las Vegas for awhile and for our 2nd anniversary my husband and I chose to go to Cafe Hiedleberg after getting a discount coupon and seeing a sample menu stating that it "included" soup, included a bread basket of their "world famous marble bread" and seeing a sample of the prices. Upon sitting down without time to look at the menu we were brought the "bread basket" 2 slices of bread (no refills were ever given) and asked wh... read more

WORST DINING EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD!... – Ate there Tuesday 19 Augusst 2008; NEVER AGAIN! ... Took over an hour for the waitress to take our orders; Drinks ordered with meal were served AFTER the meal, and AFTER four reminders! Had to scrounge for our own napkins, water, and silverware ... Zigeunerschnitzel was the POOREST excuse for 'German' food I've ever had - tasted like a scnitzel with bland curry sauce dumped on top! I was stationed in Germany 1976-1995, ate at hundreds of REAL gasthauses - This is NOT good German se... read more

Not Great...or Even Good. – A hallmark of German food is its use of wholesome, filling foods. You can't compromise that and still provide a decent plate of Bavarian eats. Well, The Cafe Heidelberg German Deli compromised every dish on my plate. I ordered the Schweinenbraten for lunch with mashed potatoes and cucumber slaw for sides. The meat tasted reheated, like yesterday's leftovers put in the microwave. The gravy added little flavor and had most certainly been poured from a can. The slaw was average, but lacked the splash... read more

German joke. – We went there because of the free coupon from hotel site and also I Love sausage. This restaurant is in the middle of real Vegas far away from what you can find on the strip. At the least I can tell the location is not attractive - please, take a cab. The only attraction of the place is good collection of good beer and probably wine. As for food, I could buy two sausages in any supermarket and braise them myself, throw them on the plate and eat with mashed potato - I won?t miss a thing. I lost my time.

Hot schnitzels in the winter and cold beer in the summer. – In Short Owner Tanya Ferris has the Deutschland market all to herself, and her customers often become regulars. During the winter, her schnitzels, sauerbraten and sausage platters keep patrons cozy on the inside. Las Vegas' summer weather is hardly simpatico with German food, but it's a great place to stock up on imported German and Austrian beers as well as sweet Rieslings. A quaint German delicatessen also adds to the Bavarian charm.

Hard to Find! – It actually sits in a small shopping strip behind another restaurant. When you walk inside, if it isn"t from Bavaria, you won't find it in the cafe. It is divided into 3 areas: the "Bavarian Room," seats about 25; a market/deli; and a wine and beer "cellar." It's easy to get in at lunch, and the owner; Tanya Brandl has had it about 8 years.

Not this kid! – I lived in Heidelberg, Germany for 12 years, and the food at this restaurant doesn't EVEN come close. I only see this place for the great selection of beer/wine and the German deli/market!
