I agree with all the comments on this site. Annette is one of the worst and most costly attorneys I’ve had the displeasure to have work on my case. She was costly, used out dated parenting practices, and pretended to listen when she already had her own cookie cutter plan laid out instead of using science, best practice, and common sense. My ex and I agreed to use Annette Burns as a parenting coordinator in our family court case, so this review is limited to that role. In a nutshell, she was terrible! I found her judgment, dedication and thoroughness before making decisions to be lacking. The best testament I can give to the quality of her work is the fact that out of the four total recommendations she submitted in our case, THREE of them were overturned by the judge. I can't say enough about what Annette had done to destroy my life. I hate to think there are evil people in this world in such a powerful and meaningful position - but Annette is living proof that there is. The reference to her telling you what you want to hear and doing exactly the opposite hit the bulls-eye when describing Annette. She seems to be very forgetful and disengaged - then turns around and makes decisions so drastic you would think she had a personal interest in the outcome. Annette seems to tell you what you want to hear and comes across reasonable during face to face meetings. Then she turns on you based on either something she discussed with the other parent or forgetfulness. She has single handedly destroyed my faith in our legal system as it relates to child custody. If this is the best we are doing to take care of our children and the well-being of our hurting families, we need to look at making serious changes. Chaotic, unpredictable, and costly. That is how I would describe Annette Burns as a parenting coordinator. I have spent an inordinate amount of money and energy to right her wrongs, using a system that is supposed to reduce the expense and conflict after divorce. Annette either responds to a request for her help right away with threats of sanctions, or an indication that she's already made a decision on a matter even before hearing from the other party...or she completely disappears and doesn't respond.
