This restaurant used to be great but the quality has significantly gone down. Firstly, it is all counter service now as opposed to the prior model of table service with knowledgeable waiters and staff. Majority of the dishes we ordered came out lukewarm. Bureau de Poste / French Bistro is now one of my favorite French restaurants in Austin. Actually, I don’t know of another French restaurant in Austin so we are very lucky to have this place. I met some friends here and we had cocktails, dinner, and girl talk. Everything was counter service, which is fine. I totally understand the concept of short staff and hard to find labor. Went for lunch; took a long time to get someone to take my order inside (no one else in line). A green salad was served mistakenly with bacon pieces (I’m vegetarian, and this was not in the item description), eggs Benedict and a frittata were served cool/luke warm at best. Was not served a knife with the eggs Benedict which required one. Service was poor and it took forever to get our food (this was particularly surprising because two items were even pre-made).
