Since he was "out to lunch" (in the office behind the receptionist) he refused to see my daughter and made me go to the urgent care. Really, who does that!!!!
Dr Buonaspina is the best pediatrician. My daughter had a rare skin condition which wS diagnosed wrong by another pediatrician and by a dermatologist. Dr Buonaspina was the only one who knew that a biopsy needed to be done in order to get a definitive diagnosis . He is so caring and answers all questions . My daughter doesn't even mind getting any vaccines because he numbs the area and she doesn't feel a pinch ! The best pediatrician on Staten Island ... Hands down!
My children have gone to Doctor Buonaspina since birth. They love him and I love him! Never eager to over medicate which is something important to me. Being that he's an infectious disease doctor he is super knowledgable about anything and everything I ever needed or wanted to know. There is never a wait when going to see him we get in and out in a breeze, scripts are called in to pharmacy before I hit the door to leave. Super convenient and very confident in my children's pediatrician!
Dr. B was very helpful for most of my child's cases, however, there have been multiple occasions where he would not prescribe the correct medicine. Many times we would have to come back over and over again in which he would constantly prescribe new medicine, some that would give my child awkward symptoms or diarrhea. All negativity aside, Dr. Buonaspina is a very trustworthy pediatrician and is very friendly when it comes to receiving help from him.
I want to be fair and say Dr. B is a nice man and keeps current in developments in his field; however, I found him to have rigid criteria for diagnosing conditions. If your child exhibits the "norm" you may never experience this fact, but my child had some atypical symptoms and he refused to be flexible in pursuing or referring me to a specialist who could confirm my child's diagnosis.
I think a pediatrician should have some personality. Especially for treating children. He does not. Very weird
I'm so surprised to find even one negative comment for Dr Buonaspina. I have been a patient of his for over 6 years and he has been nothing but professional. his staff has always been polite and patient despite some rough visits. Dr Buonaspina also specializes in Infectious disease which ideal. He does not over medicate and always addressed and explains my many concerns with patience. Dr . Buonaspina is a knowledgeable physician with a terrible bedside manner . His administrative office staff is extremely rude and condescending. Overall a negative experience . Would not recommend for any first time parents .
