Specialties Located at the corner of Wilmington and Davie Streets in the heart of downtown Raleigh, buku is a local restaurant that tells a global story. The name "buku" itself is an international slang twist on the phrase, "Merci, beaucoup" meaning, "Thank you very much." Inspired by the pushcarts of street vendors in cities across the globe, our chefs harvest an array of unique and distinct flavors and present them authentically, in a virtual kaleidoscope of plates. Food is too salty and is overpriced. Undoubtedly the worst restaurant in Raleigh. There are so many wonderful restaurants in downtown; go somewhere that has savory, quality dishes that aren't covered in salt! The service at Buku is mediocre, but it's the food that's truly awful.
Food is too salty and overpriced. There are many wonderful restaurants in downtown Raleigh that use quality ingredients that don't need to be loaded with salt to taste good. Service is also pretty mediocre here. Quite possibly the worst restaurant in DTR.
Told the bartender to just keep sending us different small plates. Would be back in a heartbeat
If you love brunch, stop what you're doing right now and make plans to go to Buku for their Sunday brunch. There aren't sufficient superlatives to express how good their brunch is.
Best international restaurant in the Raleigh/Durham area, not to mention the brunch is always amazing.
We haven't been to Buku for a while. Went today for lunch. Were little disappointed at first when we saw that our favorite dish- mussels with pesto sauce was replaced with tomato based sauce mussels. Then our sever said that he can ask if the chef can make us the pesto sauce. He came back in a minute and said that they will make us the dish. That's the difference between customer service and excellent customer service!!! And the food was really good! Wanted to say big thank you to the server and to the people in the kitchen!... read more
