About

This establishment holds the oldest liquor license in the state, and it has been in operation for more than a century. Serving since 1893, this national historic landmark has seen countless wild west icons having a meal here, including the legendary Buffalo Bill Cody. Be aware that the dining room walls are flanked by animal trophy heads, which some diners find as uncomfortably distracting. My boss took 16 people out to dinner at the Buckhorn Exchange Restaurant last night, 4/24/12. Several of the guests were visitors from Switzerland, and we were hoping to give them a feel of the "old west". The ambiance was nice, but the food was awful. So spicy that the meals couldn't be finished. At $60 per person, it was a great disappointment. We won't ever use this restaurant again. Next time we'll go to The Fort.

Established in 1893, it is Denver's oldest and most unique restaurant! The Buckhorn Exchange was issued Colorado’s Liquor License No. 1, when the prohibition laws were repealed in 1933.

Great Place to Eat Great place to go for dinner. The food is good and it has a nice decor. If you want to avoid a long wait, get there early.

Last time I was here the bartender made me a couple of different martini's, tonight the bartender said, "We only make cosmos here". Get a different job if you don't want to be a bartender! Thanks!

Oldest bar in denver gives the slowest service. Great food but you'll be waiting for hours.
