Nicknamed the "Little Smokies" because of the area's resemblance to the Great Smoky Mountains, Brown County encompasses nearly 16,000 acres of rugged hills, ridges and fog-shrouded ravines. Glaciers from the most recent ice ages stopped short of the "hills o' Brown," but their meltwaters helped create the narrow ridges, steep slopes and deep gullies of Brown County State Park. Hello! My family and I really enjoyed our time here this entire weekend (24th-27th) from the haunted trail to the campground, the trick or treating, the hospitality, and overall the best part would be the scenery and hospitality. So very disappointed that the fire tower was closed on this picture perfect day. We drove four hours here to be told by two rangers who were standing around chit chatting that it was closed due to overcrowding. There were 2 literally cars in the parking lot. I have a photo. Next time, we'll choose Tippecanoe for our fall trip. Way to be flexible, Brown County. :(
