We signed a contract to move my 93-yr. old Mom to Brookdale, since she was could no longer live in her own home. We felt a bit pressured to sign, since they told us of a “special” price that would expire the next day. Just a few days after signing, my sisters and I began feeling like it was not the right fit, especially since Mom was having so much difficulty getting around. Hire more caregivers for the memory care unit. When my loved one was there I gave him most of his baths. His laundry went undone for days at a time. His bed wasn't changed for 2 weeks. I finally did it myself. Socks weren't changed, and he ended up with athletes feet, which I treated. Final straw, he fell and staff reported that he had hit his elbow. I was in an interview for a Nursing position with Cindy Borski the Executive Director and she stated that I would not be a good fit because I am a man and I am 6ft and 275lbs that all the residents will be scared of me. I walked out of that interview feeling less than a human being. On the job description they did not have a height, weight or gender requirement. This interview took place on 5/13/2019.
