This is the way bars used to and should be – I met a friend here after work recently. I work on and came uptown from " The Street ". (No I am not pretentious). As soon as I entered the door I said to myself "this is it, I found it!" , took off my jacket and tie and cooled out at a laid back bar where nobody gives two cents about where you went to college or how many degrees you have, how much you make a year or where you live or even who you are. Just kick back , get a cold (or a few ) VERY reasonable priced happy hour drink... read more
Best snack is lasagne pizza opposite the youth hostel – It's been about 13 years since I've frequented the Broadway Dive - but the memories are still brand new! We were broke tourists. The manager then was Dave. He was the best host ever and the locals became fast friends. Dave even gave us a room in his apartment and introduced us to all of his friends in the equally great and friendly Cannon's bar - a couple of blocks away. Unfortunately we lost touch with Dave so if anyone knows where Dave is now please let us know - we'r... read more
Good Service, No Suits. – B'way Dive saved my a**. Bottom line. Reasonable drinks and real New Yorkers. Lots of cool people from all over as well. Killer bar staff, I'll be back to this neighborhood just for this little retreat. Very refreshing spot to unwind after a day of walking the city. I felt like a regular after three nights hanging at the B'way. Love this spot. Good selection of micros - just like home.
Loved it! – Great conversation to be had here... amusing bar staff! Full of character and characters! Even the beer was good!
Cool chill spot! – I went to this bar with my BF and I must admit I was kinda skeptical about this place because of the name - "Broadway Dive". I thought it was going to be grungy, smelly, and full of loud, annoying drunks but it was actually the complete opposite. The bartender took care of us quickly. The crowd was mixed. They have little tables and chairs on the side if you don't feel like sitting at the bar. I wasn't the only girl in the bar which was a huge +. The jukebox plays everything from rock, to hip hop, to count... read more
Local bar-cheap drinks-great history – You'll feel like you stepped back in time in this place--definitely a local's hang-out w/ cheap drinks and good people who all know each other and are loud and rowdy and fun! Go in for a few and support your local dive.
Great Place to Hang Out – I was born and raised on the Upper West Side, and this is my favorite bar. I bring all my out-of-town buddies here, and they all like the down-to-earth and fun atmosphere. There are always pleasant regulars as well as new faces, who become fixtures because of the friendly bartender. I don't know how this happened, but this place has also become the home of many visiting sports fans. For example, there are more Red Sox than Yankee fans during Boston-NY games. It's fun watching with the enemy, and I c... read more
Takin a break from all your worries... – "...sure would help a lot." This is the bar everyone's been looking. A great place to meet new people or grab a few drinks with old friends.
robinita – This is my favorite bar in NYC. Not only is there always a bartender who will make you laugh in any circumstance, but it's just a comfortable place to be. As a woman, I feel comfortable going there on my own or with other girlfriends. There are cute guys, some regulars, especially around the dart board on the weekends. The prices can't be beat, which is nice if you happen to be paying for your own drinks! They just redid the facade of the place and now it's got an airy, open feel to it.
