britex i love shopping at this place for fabrics and such. everything is clean, well taken care of, and well laid out. i don't like shopping at bargain basements for fabric where the fabrics are just thrown around and get dirty.
fabulous if you know exactly what you want I've been going to Britex for years...but admittedly stopped sewing for awhile...was was just there with my granddaughter today who didn't know exactly what she wanted and realized..the beautiful fabrics are stacked so high you can't touch or feel and can barely see....there is not a lot of staff around to help and let's face it...how many bolts can you ask them to climb a ladder for and pull down for you? SO much beauty!!! OK, Britex has an aura about it that puts you on your best behavior; so I agree with the person that said it's a "hands off" place. BUT, get over your fear;ask them to climb to the top of the wall if you see something you're interested in. Snooty sales people? Don't pay any attention to that nonsense. Selection is out of this world, and no, you cannot compare it in any way to your local Joanne's or Hancock's. This store is a mecca for creative people everywhere. organization is key The best place to go to for fabric. Many of the others warehouses are messy and cluttered, but Britex not only carries high quality fabrics, they're all neatly organized and clean! My pick for proms and weddings!!
Shop here only if you like paying too much for everything Yeah, it's a fabric store, has some neat things, but nothing you could not find if you dug a little deeper at local fabric stores or online. Their fabric is terribly expensive. Sure, they have designer fabrics that are one of a kind, like 800.00yd silk velvet, but also for more everyday fabric such as stretch mesh can run you about 18.00yd whereas in other stores the price would be under 10.00yd.
