I have a lot of respect and trust for Jim. Was taking a new-ish car to the local dealership for servicing -- they quoted close to $1000 for replacing rear brake pads, so I said 'hold up, I'll get a quote on that from bloke down the road'. Jim quoted significantly below dealership (of course) but when I took my car in to Jim, he had a look and said the dealership was BS-ing me and the brake pads were good for a lot longer (still 60% thickness left).
